Coco B Storage Project
A natural Gas project
TC Energy is a leading North American energy infrastructure company focused on natural gas and power operations.
As part of its efforts to enhance the reliability, safety, and integrity of its natural gas pipeline systems, TC Energy is undertaking the Coco B Storage Project. This project involves drilling two replacement wells and adding pipeline in West Virginia at one of TC Energy's Columbia Gas Transmission Storage facilities.
The Columbia Gas Transmission system spans multiple states, providing a critical link between major natural gas basins and markets. With over 11,800 miles of pipeline and numerous storage fields, the system helps ensure reliable energy supply, even during periods of high demand.
TC Energy expects the Coco B Storage Project to be completed by the end of 2024.

Construction updates
August 7, 2024: Construction update
As part of our completions work, we are currently undergoing well stimulation and flow testing operations of our wells. This requires gas to flow periodically for 1-to-2-hour increments. We anticipate this activity to last over the next two weeks intermittently. Local emergency response agencies have been notified for their awareness.
August 5, 2024: Construction update
We have completed transportation of drilling rig sections via wide trailer loads from our Project site through the community.
We greatly appreciate the community’s patience, cooperation and understanding during traffic delays.
Beginning Monday, August 5, smaller truck loads will be traveling to the Project site in support of upcoming project completion activities. Traffic flow impacts are anticipated to be minimal.
July 24, 2024: Construction update
Well drilling construction activity is completed. We plan on starting construction transportation on Saturday, July 27, and continuing during daylight hours through Saturday, Aug. 3. This will include moving drilling rig sections via wide trailer loads from our Project site through the community via Pinch, New Hope and Upper Pinch Roads.
To limit traffic disruptions during peak hours, we will avoid wide-load transportation from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
We will utilize local police escorts, as necessary, and flaggers will be assisting in directing local traffic during potential intermittent road closures.
We encourage you to check out our Project map showing construction traffic routes and alternate routes to help avoid delays. You can visit this Construction Updates section for the latest information.
We understand that traffic delays can inconvenience the local community, and we greatly appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
Frequently asked questions
Who is TC Energy and what do you do?
We’re a team of 7,000+ energy problem solvers working to move, generate and store the energy North America relies on. Today, we are taking action to make that energy more sustainable and more secure. We are innovating and modernizing to reduce emissions from our business, and we are delivering new energy solutions – from natural gas and renewables to carbon capture and hydrogen – to help other businesses and industries decarbonize too. TC Energy is an energy infrastructure company that for more than 70 years – and in this area, over 100 years – operated pipelines, storage facilities and power-generation plants that support life in the U.S., Canada and Mexico safely, reliably and quietly.
Why are you drilling wells in the area?
The two new wells will improve the efficiency and reliability of our existing natural gas storage facility.
Will there be local road delays or closures during construction?
Yes. There will be intermittent road closures and delays during the removal of the drilling rig as we move heavy wide-load trucks through the surrounding community. We will post construction updates, including a construction map, anticipated routes, dates and expected times of heavy traffic. We will utilize local police escorts, as necessary, and flaggers will be assisting in directing local traffic during potential intermittent road closures.
How are we regulated?
The Coco B Storage Project is governed according to regulations outlined by the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). For further information contact us or contact FERC directly.
